Key Purpose of the Role
As a Distribution Controller, your primary objective is to drive consistent service levels by ensuring superior execution of the delivery process. You’ll play a crucial role in executing our competition strategy responsibly while maximizing profitability through efficient delivery modes and productivity outputs aligned with DPO/VPO standards.
Key Outputs and Responsibilities
1. Delivery Productivity & Execution Management
- Coach errant offenders on issues such as Bottle Loss, MBFU (Missing, Broken, Foreign Units), Refusals, and Out-of-Stock (OOS) situations to optimize service levels.
- Monitor adherence to delivery mode shares and proactively explore opportunities for cost-effective modes.
- Verify master data accuracy and adherence to standards.
- Oversee 3PL (Third-Party Logistics) and Own Driver load execution and verification.
- Conduct market visits, coordinate with drivers, and ensure adherence to SOPs (Standard Operating Procedures) and OWDs (Operational Work Directives).
- Follow MCRS (Market Coverage, Route to Market, and Sales) routines in line with DPO SCL (Delivery, Planning, and Operations Supply Chain Logistics) standards.
- Uphold DPO/VPO (Delivery Performance Objective / Volume Performance Objective) pillars to drive KPI (Key Performance Indicator) and PI (Performance Indicator) results.
- Maintain financial controls and support budget setting.
2. Financial Controls
- Manage Tier 2 financial performance against the budget, aligning with Variable Logistics Costs.
- Calculate the Latest Estimate and plan for deviations, ensuring Variable Logistics Performance is achieved.
3. Quality Management
- Emphasize quality in the Route Delivery Execution Process, ensuring adherence by all team members.
- Foster understanding of the customer complaint process among employees.
- Train and equip drivers to identify quality-related issues and handle them correctly to minimize incidents.
4. Safety as Priority
- Promote safe operating practices in alignment with our safety culture.
- Create and maintain safe work and delivery environments.
Profile
To excel in this role, you should possess the following qualifications and attributes:
- Relevant 3-year tertiary degree/diploma, preferably in Supply Chain and/or Logistics.
- Minimum of 4 years’ experience in a customer service role within an FMCG (Fast-Moving Consumer Goods) Supply Chain and/or Logistics context.
- Valid Code 08 Driver’s License.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
- SAP/Syspro experience is preferred.
- Knowledge of customer service principles.
- Demonstrated reliability.
- Strong interpersonal skills and relationship-building abilities.
- Ability to thrive under pressure.
- Effective verbal communication and planning skills.
- A strong achievement orientation.
