Executive Director at Outstanding Solutions Ltd; The Executive Director is a key leadership role within the organization, reporting directly to the CEO. This role is instrumental in executing the organization’s mission, vision, and strategic goals, managing daily operations, and promoting collaboration among staff, members, and stakeholders.
Primary Duties:
Strategic Planning & Execution: Work in partnership with the CEO, board of directors, and senior management to formulate and execute the organization’s strategic plan, aligning it with organizational goals and priorities. Lead the execution of strategic initiatives, programs, and projects to serve member interests and boost the tourism industry in Tanzania.
Organizational Leadership: Offer visionary leadership to staff, cultivating a culture of innovation, excellence, and teamwork across the organization. Supervise the recruitment, training, and development of staff, ensuring a diverse and skilled workforce that can achieve the company’s objectives.
Stakeholder Engagement: Establish and maintain robust relationships with key stakeholders, including organization members, government agencies, tourism boards, industry partners, and international organizations. Advocate for the interests of organization members and the tourism industry through effective communication, lobbying, and engagement with policymakers and regulatory bodies.
Financial Management & Resource Mobilization: Collaborate closely with the CEO and finance team to formulate and manage the organization’s annual budget, ensuring sound financial stewardship and accountability. Spearhead efforts to diversify revenue sources, secure funding, and optimize financial resources through grants, sponsorships, membership dues, and other revenue-generating activities.
Program & Project Management: Supervise the planning, implementation, and evaluation of the organization’s programs, projects, and initiatives, tracking progress and performance against established goals and objectives. Ensure the application of effective project management practices, including budgeting, scheduling, risk management, and reporting.
Policy Development & Compliance: Formulate and implement organization policies and procedures to guide the operations and activities of the organization, ensuring alignment with legal, regulatory, and ethical standards. Ensure compliance with legal and regulatory requirements governing the operations of the organization, including adherence to International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRSs) and other relevant regulations.
Representation & Communication: Represent the organization in external meetings, events, and collaborations with industry stakeholders, government agencies, and international organizations, advocating for the organization’s mission and objectives. Prepare reports and presentations for the board of directors or governing body, providing updates on organizational performance, strategic initiatives, and key issues impacting the tourism industry.
Required Skills & Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Tourism Management, Public Administration, or related field.
- Proven leadership experience in a senior management role, preferably within the tourism industry, association management, or nonprofit sector.
- Strong understanding of the tourism industry, regulatory environment, and key issues affecting tour operators in Tanzania.
- Excellent strategic planning, organizational development, and project management skills.
- Demonstrated ability to build and maintain effective relationships with diverse stakeholders, including government officials, industry leaders, and community representatives.
- Exceptional communication and presentation skills, with the ability to articulate complex ideas clearly and effectively.
